I feel that any scientific experiments that are involved in order to verify the shape of the planet should use the metric system.
By adopting the metric system for these experiments, we will broaden the reach that these experiments have with the rest of the planet.
It is easy to visualize the imperial system because a foot is essentially the length of a man’s foot. In construction, we see men estimate feet all the time by walking the distance, one foot in front of the other. Mathematically, the metric system will seem more “logical“ at first, but it is quite arbitrary when applied to reality.
Metric system, to me, is not as intuitive as the standard system. I worked as a design technician for years.....man I tell you, cant stand European cabinets! For one, they all go by the metric system, which sounds great being that everything is divisible by ten, but holy crap it turns into a square peg and round hole scenario! Furthermore, all their cabinets are frameless and without attached toe kicks…and usually crap, laminated mdf! There is a qualitative reasoning in the standard system that makes it easier to visualize. This is similar to Fahrenheit vs Celsius.
There is no point in using both systems when the metric system is the dominant system in use. If the objective is to demonstrate to the largest possible number of people as to what the shape of the planet is, then it would only make sense to use the system of measurement that most people are familiar with.
Scientific tests need to be able to be reproduced and measurable. By using only the metric system, they will be allowed to be reproduced and measurable for the largest number of people on the planet.
We’ll have to use both in the USA. We started learning the metric system in elementary school in the 70s and never used it again.
Probably better just to use both. Easily convertible. My preference for the Imperial system is that research into how we obtained imperial measurements in the first place is that they were derived from measuring the earth; they are based on creation itself. Metric it seems to me is a globalist measuring system meant to hide God's creation.
