You are good people, my friend. Bible or no Bible, I like hanging with you. No worries, I tend to frighten the disembodied spirits, as well as the embodied ones.
There is a free app called e-sword where you can download the King James version (KJV) for free. There’s also a free KJV+, which includes the Strong’s reference numbers (which link to the definitions). Strong’s dictionary defines the original Old Testament Hebrew and New Testament Greek.
Ultimately, one the best things to do is to compare bibles together. The meaning comes out pretty well.
But for just starting out and reading, I think either the New King James (or King James too), or the English Standard Version are great go tos. These are called "literal" translations, and I like them because they don't have copyrights, so no one can make money off of them as they are.
My favourite translation though is the Amplified Classic. It brings out all the meaning in the ancient words that English has a hard time with. Hours of study are encapsulated right there on the page.
Found an edition with the KJV and Amplified side by side, so you can read both translations at once!
Hi I understand what you’re saying,I’ve never read the bible before I want too read and understand what the verses are when listening to what george and others are quoting in the podcast
I think it is more powerful to forget about "The Bible" and write your own thoughts down, as well as share them with those that care to listen. I recommend getting a journal and a pen. Your own thoughts are more powerful than any Bible every written. The word of God works through you.
When Adam and Eve fell by disobeying God, sin entered into these bodies we have. The Bible says our "flesh is at enmity" with God. On top of that, we are surrounded with disembodied spirits who constantly lie to us, placing thoughts in our head to deceive and lead us away from God.
That's why we need His written Word so very very badly. After that, we need each other, the "ecclesia" (gathering, group, community, fellowship), so that we can discuss these things with each other, so that we won't leave that straight path. Pilgrim's Progress has some great analogies in it on this vein.
Hi everyone got a bibLe where do i find out about the firmament in the New Testament?

There are several translations I would avoid. If you have questions about one, post it!
Lindsay! Awesome question.
