I haven't been back on this forum in a while, sorry if this is long. I haven't had a social media account of any type in probably 2 years, and recently joined Instagram and Threads. I've seen trolls a long the way of my FE journey on YouTube and places making fun how "dumb" a 5 hour documentary is. As if any non flat earth individual is going to watch something for 5 hours and call it stupid. I pay no attention to comments like that because they're clearing trolling. However, I just got my first actual taste of people making fun of flat earthers on a Threads post. This post was only frustrating to me to see how people will say the most uneducated remarks on something they know absolutely nothing about. It's like me walking up to a stranger and telling them how stupid their beliefs are, not knowing a single thing about that person. It is disheartening to me that as a society we don't really take the time to actually question why someone believes what they do before saying something uneducated and downright rude. I believe social media has had a major impact on this mentality in people because we don't have to reap the consequences of saying literally whatever we want to others over a screen, unlike we would face to face with someone. Kind of the way people will drive so aggressively, cutting off others, running red lights, then you walk into the grocery store everyone is polite to one another. The post was the photo of the flat square earth in the solar system. I commented that literally no flat earther believes what that propaganda photo shows and received "they do." A few of the replies to me or the post in general typos and all; "if the earth is flat then go find the edge and walk off" "Now so what do you beliefe (this is gonna be fun)" a picture of a lamp lighting up the entire flat earth, an astronaut in space next to a pancake calling FE's "haters", "you don't understand it... and no one with brain cant understand it" "you retarded or something." Painful lol. I'll be using examples like this to teach my children how not to treat others when they grow up. How to critically think, to be open minded, to ponder things, and to research someones beliefs if they are curious about them rather than jumping to name calling.

Yet - if they ever get enlightened - they should feel horrible for treating people that way. It is sad. Hard to ignore - but literally there are people who have nothing better to do than troll others online.
